The Algarve is a popular region for buying a (second) home and spending a holiday. Five reasons why you should buy a property in the Algarve.

1. One of the sunniest regions of Europe

The Algarve is located on the Atlantic Ocean instead of the Mediterranean. Due to the fresh sea breeze it never gets muggy, but it is even in summer very pleasant. The climate of the Algarve is Mediterranean, with warm summers and mild winters. In the Algarve there is about 3,000 hours a year of sun shine. Thus it belongs to the sunniest regions in Europe. In March the daytime temperatures average 18 to 21 degrees, with outliers to even 25 degrees.

2. The green area of the Algarve

The Algarve is renowned for its particular coast, with dramatic cliffs and beautiful wide beaches. This region has much natural beauty to offer, especially in the spring, if the whole Algarve is in bloom. In March the first flowering orchids, oleander, camellias and other flowers appear. Spring give the nature in the Algarve even more color than usually.

3. The Algarve: a secure region

The Algarve is a very safe region to live, as well is Portugal as a country. In 2020 Portugal is again in the top 3 of most safest countries in the world, according to the Global Peace Index. Since 2019 Portugal moved from the fifth place to the third place and in 2020 this amazing third spot, with only Iceland and New Sealand above, has been kept. Also Forbes magazine published an article written by American Kathleen Peddicord, an authority in the field of overseas investment, in which they chose the Algarve as best place to invest post COVID-19 (read full article here).

4. Attractive property market in the Algarve

It is currently a good time to invest in a property in the Algarve or in a plot on which you can build your own dream home.
